Beyond a check-in

Attendance should not stop at “Who signed in?”

Who was required to be present, where were they required to be, when were they there, for how long did they remain, and what authorized evidence supports the record?

Single-event attendance records can establish that an interaction occurred. They may not establish meaningful duration, session participation, temporary absence or return. Presence is designed to help institutions build the fuller record.

The attendance problem

Present can mean more than one event.

Manual registers, one-time QR scans, entrance-gate events, morning or evening biometric records and other single check-ins can all be useful. On their own, they may leave important operational questions unanswered.

Checked in, then left

An employee records arrival and subsequently leaves before completing the assigned period.

On campus, not in class

A student enters the institution without attending the scheduled session.

Short attendance

A participant checks into a session but leaves shortly afterward.

Duration unknown

Management sees “Present” but cannot establish meaningful time in attendance.

How OERENA Presence works

OERENA Presence distinguishes arrival at an institution from participation in the assigned class, duty or activity. Exact rules are configured for each deployment.

Student attendance

Campus presence is not automatically class attendance.

The platform can associate a student with the programme, course, lecturer, room, scheduled session and its approved attendance events.

Lecturer and staff presence

Reporting to the institution is not the same as being present for the assigned duty.

For lecturers, timetable assignments may be compared with session attendance. Employee presence may relate to configured work schedules, departments, locations and assigned activities.

Evidence when attendance needs verification

Privacy safeguard: Visual monitoring is subject to institutional authorization, privacy controls, access permissions and applicable requirements. OERENA Presence is not positioned for covert surveillance.

Human cross-verification

Context from authorized people, with disagreements surfaced for review.

Lecturer verification

A lecturer may verify whether a student attended, arrived late, temporarily left, returned, left early or was absent.

Designated representative verification

An authorized class representative may verify whether the lecturer attended, arrived late, conducted the session, left early, completed it or failed to attend. This verification does not give the representative disciplinary authority.

When approved records disagree, OERENA Presence can flag the attendance record for authorized management review.

Rules may cover lateness, minimum required attendance, temporary or cumulative absence, early departure, repeated lateness, approved absence and lecturer or session requirements.

Ownership and licensing

An OERENA-owned software platform.

Institutions receive licensed and customized deployments according to agreed commercial terms. OERENA retains ownership of the core product, platform architecture, reusable software components and general product improvements unless a specific agreement provides otherwise.

Institutional operational data remains subject to the applicable contractual and legal framework. Institutional pricing is based on deployment scope, user population, required integrations, support requirements and infrastructure.
